Cold weather= hot pot!

Last night, to celebrate OC's birthday, I met up with some friends for dinner after a long day at uni. It was a day of presentations, getting publicly humiliated by having to sing in class, and disappointment, but nonetheless, dinner was needed, and better to dine with friends than alone.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, sun was shining and it was warm in the afternoon. Then night came, bringing with it the bitter cold. Thus, it was decided that we'd have our very first hot pot of the year~

Eastwood, just 3 minutes' walk from the station, at Old Kitchen Sichuan, Hotpot King.

Yin Yang pot with medium hot spicy soup and plain soup. Unfortunately, we all didn't really know how to speak Mandarin or read Chinese, and the menu was entirely in Chinese. We could make out what things are though- reckon all the Chinese one needs is the character "cow" and "sheep". Or else just put a tick on every dish and get everything =P The yinyang pot was $15, but you can get the pure plain one for $7, though... that kinda defeats the point of going to a Sichuan restaurant...

Still practicing my macro, so a lot of photos are going to look the same...

I heard bamboo shoots are actually poisonous according to Chinese Medicine, but I absolutely love them in hot pot, stir fries, cans, anywhere! Ordered lots of mushrooms too, long ones, Chinese ones, Western ones~

Truth be told, the food was alright, service was kinda lacking because we obviously couldn't really speak Chinese well, haha... quite pricey as well at ~$26 per person, though of course, it was all you can eat. And you have to count in the cost of the pot on top, so best to go with maybe 4 people per pot for best value.

This was a cheesecake from Breadtop!

And taken from inside the bag, a ferrero mud cake, also from Breadtop.

And just random, fat chicken. My dad is being completely unoriginal and calling this one Brownie...

And no prize for guessing what he calls the black one =_______= I object to those names! They should be called Pig and Pork.

yayy ice cream! I was originally thinking Choco and Bo (choco and blanka? XD ) When I think of Masamune, I think of Frog from Chrono Trigger... =(

Chickens are cute right~ ^^ they're still trying to get their voices right, so maybe when they get a little bigger, they can sleep outside. Right now, they go out in the day, come back at night into the house to sleep.

But that's where I got that from. I think the Masa and Mune twins that combined...

And Biggs and Wedge appear in every final fantasy..
